French high-tech industrial group Exail has delivered navigation equipment to the Finnish Navy, marking a major step forward in the Squadron 2020 program.
As disclosed, the delivery includes multiple Marins M3 inertial navigation systems (INS) and shockmount protection systems for Finland’s new Pohjanmaa-class corvettes.
Each corvette will be fitted with Marins M3 and Phins systems, to ensure precise positioning and orientation even in environments where GNSS signals may be disrupted.
The shock-mounted protection further makes these systems withstand high-impact shocks, maintaining uninterrupted performance under demanding conditions, according to the company.

The Squadron 2020 program, which involves the construction of four Pohjanmaa-class multi-role corvettes, represents a transformative upgrade for Finland’s naval defense. The navy recently revealed that the hull of the first corvette reached the “hull completed” stage on schedule at the end of 2024. The protective coating, which had shielded the vessel during the painting process, was removed in early February. The vessel is being built by local shipyard Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC).
The high-performance vessels are designed to operate in the Baltic Sea year-round in various circumstances ranging from autumn storms to icy and freezing conditions. The corvettes will be commissioned in phases during 2027 and 2029.
