A US Coast Guard cutter offloaded close to 3 tons of cocaine in San Diego, California, on October 25.
Offloaded by the crew of US Coast Guard cutter Active, the seized drugs were the result of multiple interdictions conducted by multiple Coast Guard crews in the Eastern Pacific Ocean from mid-September through early October.
The drug interceptions were made by cutters James (WSML-754), Active (WMEC-618), and Alert (WMEC-630).
“I couldn’t be more proud of the hard work and dedication displayed by my crew, the crews of cutters Alert and James, and the men and women of the aircrews and support networks ashore,” said Cmdr. Chris German, Active’s commanding officer.
“Their teamwork was key to successfully combating transnational organized crime in the drug trafficking zones over the past several months. Knowing that we stopped tons of drugs from reaching the our streets, and the streets of allied nations in Central and South America, makes the long deployments away from home worth every moment.”
