The U.S. Navy has awarded Electric Boat Corp. a $34.6 million contract modification to exercise options to procure on board repair parts for Virginia-class submarines, SSN 792 and 793.

Under this modification, the U.S. Navy is procuring mechanical and electronic repair parts that will be stored on the ship while at sea.

The yet to be built Block IV Virginia-class submarines that are to receive the parts are named USS Vermont (SSN-792) and USS Oregon (SSN-793).

Work will be performed in Groton, Connecticut, and is expected to be completed by June 2019 for SSN 792 and November 2019 for SSN 793.

The navy will build ten Block IV submarines under a $17.6 billion contract awarded in April 2014 to General Dynamics Electric Boat as prime contractor.
