Defence PSU Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers received its biggest ever order from the Indian Navy.
With a total worth of $3.1 billion, this contract includes the construction of three advanced stealth frigates.
Under the project P-17A, Mazagon Dock (MDL), Mumbai, will build four stealth frigates and the Kolkata shipyard will build three such frigates. According to Business Standard Ltd, all vessels will be of the same design.
The construction of the first ship will commence once the final design is ready. Officials expect the first vessel to be finished by 2023.
