The Indian Navy’s Kilo-class submarine INS Sindhughosh sustained minor damages in a collision with a fishing vessel.
In the accident, which occurred during a night exercise on February 19 – 20 in the Arabian Sea, off Mumbai, only the submarine’s periscope was damaged. According to The Times of India, the submarine was taking part in Tropex (Theatre Readiness Operational Level Exercise) naval exercise.
INS Sindhughosh is currently docked in Mumbai repair dock.
This is the latest in a number of Navy-related accidents which occurred in the last couple of years. Both INS Sindhuratna and INS Sindhurakshak were earlier involved in accidents that had fatal results.
