The commander, Carrier Strike Group (CSG) 4 announced the Sailor of the Quarter (SOQ) and Junior Sailor of the Quarter (JSOQ), Nov. 25, for the first quarter of the fiscal year 2015.

Legalman 1st Class Miranda Fuller of Las Vegas, and Yeoman 2nd Class James Gray of Dallas, were named Sailor of the Year and Junior Sailor of the Year, respectively.

In addition to her regular duties as a legalman, Fuller, who has been in the Navy for 12 years, is also the vice president of the First Class Petty Officers Association, a member of the command training team and part of the command Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) committee.

This was not Gray’s first honor. The Sailor from Dallas won JSOQ three out of four quarters in fiscal year 2014 and was nominated for Junior Sailor of the Year this month.

Gray joined the Navy in January 2010 and was first stationed aboard aircraft carrier USS Nimitz (CVN 68).

Gray’s many duties around the command include command career counselor, immediate superior-in-command career counselor of CSG-4’s two subordinate commands (Tactical Training Group, Atlantic and Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Atlantic), command sponsor, indoctrination coordinator, and others.

CSG-4 comprises a team of experienced Sailors, Marines, government civilians and Reservists, who mentor, train and assess Atlantic Fleet combat forces to forward deploy in support and defense of national interests. Led by Rear Adm. Richard Butler, CSG-4 and its subordinate commands shape the readiness of Atlantic Fleet CSGs, expeditionary strike groups, amphibious readiness groups and independent deploying ships through live, at-sea and synthetic training, as well as academic instruction.
