As HMAS Success approached the end of her RIMPAC deployment, Commanding Officer Captain Allison Norris took advantage of the reduced tempo to recognise the contributions and achievements of personnel.
One particular gathering was of Success’ embarked Seahawk Flight, which joined the ship shortly before leaving Fleet Base East for RIMPAC 2014.
Captain Norris began by recognising the contribution of the flight to both the exercise and the ship.
“You have integrated well. It has been a nearly seamless transition,” she told the members of the Flight.
“Now is the time to take a short break, and then come back and build on what we have achieved, taking it to the next level as we prepare for future deployments,” Captain Norris said.
Success’s Flight Operations Officer, Lieutenant Lauren Ruse, was singled out for special attention. Captain Norris presented her with the Warfare Community Medal, an award made to Royal Australian Navy aviators on completion of their comprehensive Operational Flying Training program.
HMAS Success returned to Fleet Base East, Garden Island, Sydney, this week. Her flight will now conduct deep level maintenance at HMAS Albatross.
