Baltimore-based Lockheed Martin Corp. has received a USD 10.7 million modification to previously awarded contract under which Lockheed Martin will exercise an option for post-delivery support for the USS Milwaukee (LCS5).

Lockheed Martin will perform the planning and implementation of deferred design changes, which have been identified during the construction period.

USS Milwaukee will be a Freedom class littoral combat ship of the US Navy. The launch and naming ceremony of the ship was held on December 18, 2013 and she should be delivered to the fleet this year.

The work, to be performed in Marinette, Wis., Hampton, Va., Moorestown, N.J., San Diego, Calif., and Washington, D.C., is expected to be completed by October 2015.
