Under the MoU, which was signed today (January 29, 2025), the partners will focus on the joint research and development (R&D), co-production, and supply of various categories of weapons and systems. These include:

  • underwater weapons,
  • underwater vehicles,
  • underwater mines,
  • underwater communication systems,
  • and air defense systems.

The partners aim to address the current and further requirements of the Indian defense forces, paramilitary forces, police organizations, central and state government agencies, the civil sector, and export markets.

The MoU also encompasses modernization and upgrade of existing systems to align with evolving operational requirements.

GRSE stated that “this collaboration will leverage the core strengths of both organizations on leveraging and enhancing manufacturing infrastructure for components and sub-assemblies of these systems”. The shipbuilding company also wants to reinforce its commitment to strengthening indigenous capabilities and supporting the Government of India’s Make in India initiative.

To remind, last month, GRSE, together with the Indian Navy, held a commissioning ceremony for the country’s second survey vessel, INS Nirdeshak.
