This agreement outlines the companies’ joint aim to deepen cooperation in major global naval procurement projects, including the Polish Orka submarine program and the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project.

The partners want to provide solutions throughout the entire lifecycle of naval platforms, from acquisition to operation.

The agreement builds on Babcock and Hanwha Ocean’s existing relationship which dates back to June 2023, when Babcock Canada signed a technical cooperation agreement to support Canada’s submarine sustainment programs and cooperate on the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project.

In February this year, the two companies also entered a teaming agreement to collaborate on global submarine programs.

Meanwhile, in June this year, Hanwha Ocean signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Canadian company Gastops to explore collaborative opportunities within the Canadian Patrol Submarine Project.

Gastops provides specialized propulsion system integration services to naval, coast guard and system integrators, shipyards, and marine control system companies.

It uses dynamic modeling and simulations to validate propulsion machinery selection, develop and substantiate propulsion machinery control algorithms, evaluate propulsion machinery performance, and support the marine propulsion system design process.
