Rafael wins $80 million contract for naval warfare systems

Israel’s defense technology company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems has been awarded a new $80 million contract to supply naval warfare systems suite for Shaldag MK V fast patrol boats.

As informed, the vessels are being built by Israel Shipyards for an undisclosed Southeast Asian country.

Under the contract, the company will supply combat management system (CMS), and Typhoon and Mini-Typhoon remotely controlled weapon systems (RWCS),

Furthermore, the firm will also equip the vessels with Naval Spike Non-Line-of-Sight (NLOS) missile systems, the Sea-Com shipborne communication system and other maintenance and repair systems.

The duration of the contract is three years.

The Shaldag MK V is one of the three variants of the Shaldag-class fast patrol boats.

The vessels are designed to meet the challenging coastal security requirements of navies across the globe, supporting missions such as maritime patrol, interception of terrorist activities, drug trafficking, prevention of illegal immigration, and search-and-rescue (SAR) operations.

Earlier on, Israel Shipyards built the fast patrol boats for the Argentine Coast Guard.
