Abu Dhabi Ship Building, Italy’s Leonardo team up for naval collaboration

Abu Dhabi Ship Building has signed a memorandum of understanding with Italy’s Leonardo to step up cooperation in the naval sector at the IDEX International Defence Exhibition in Abu Dhabi.

The new MoU will see the two sides collaborate to create a combat management system (CMS) integration laboratory capable of testing, maintaining and evolving the software of Leonardo’s CMS system which is operational on more than 20 of the UAE Navy’s ships.

According to Leonardo, the MoU will also explore the development of a joint logistic support solution for preventive and corrective maintenance and a local spare parts inventory for Leonardo naval systems.

The collaboration areas are expected to improve lead-time, repairs turnaround time and overall systems sustainment.
