In the next five months, Calgary and her crew of over 230 will work with regional allies as part of the Canadian defense forces operation Projection – a strategic engagement with regional nations to support capacity building and foster relationships.

The operation will see the frigate visit 5 countries and transit more than 16700 nautical miles before returning home at CFB Esquimalt in late November/early December.

Prior to starting her deployment, Calgary completed a live-fire air-defense exercise testing Evolved Sea Sparrow Missiles (ESSMs) on unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as targets. The frigate and crew will also complete intermediate multi-ship readiness training while en route to Australia.
