Swedish-Finnish naval task group exercise starts off Stockholm

The Finnish Navy has deployed three vessels to Sweden where they are taking part in a naval exercise in the archipelago of Stockholm.

The two navies will increase their interoperability through 8 days of exercises which are set to conclude on April 19.

The exercise will focus on anti-submarine warfare between Finland and Sweden as a part of the operation of the Swedish-Finnish Naval Task Group, SFNTG.

The two countries declared initial operational capability for their SFNTG in December 2017 after the the conceptßs evaluation during exercise Northern Coasts 2017.

The Finnish Navy says it has sent two Rauma-class fast attack craft and one Katanpää-class mine hunter to take part in the exercise. Staff officers from the Navy Command Finland will also participate in the exercise.
