US Navy’s Military Sealift Command has awarded Detyens Shipyard a $7.78 million contract for the regular overhaul and dry docking of USNS Big Horn (T-AO 189).

During the 42-calendar day shipyard availability, the Henry J. Kaiser-class oiler is set to undergo a range of repairs and modifications.

In addition to general services, Detyens Shipyard will overhaul the ship service diesel generator, install new fuel oil meters, install new lifeboats and conduct ventilation repairs. The ship will also have a refurbished non-skid flight deck and flight deck safety nets.

The overhaul will take place in North Charleston, South Carolina, and is expected to be completed by February 14, 2018.
