German Navy’s K130 corvette Ludwigshafen am Rhein left her homeport of Warnemünde on February 28 to join her Swedish Navy counterpart for Baltic Sea drills.

The Royal Swedish Navy is represented by the Visby-class corvette HMS Härnösand.

Sweden is not a NATO member but regularly takes part in exercises with the organization’s member states, including Germany.

The Scandinavian country will be the host of this year’s international large-scale maneuver Northern Coasts 2017 that will take place in September.

The Navy units from the two countries will undertake various military drills and naval maneuvers in the coming week.

German Navy’s 1st Corvette Squadron commander, Frigate Captain Sascha Zarthe embarked the Ludwigshafen am Rhein for the duration of the exercise.
