NATO Mine Countermeasures Ships Dock in London

The six ships of Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group ONE (SNMCMG1) arrived in London for a routine port visit on Thursday, November 26, 2015.

SNMCMG1 is visiting London as part of the Group’s deployment to enhance maritime security and NATO’s readiness in the region.

Under the command of the Royal Netherlands Navy Commander Peter Bergen Henegouven, SNMCMG1 ships and staff have been engaged in a number of exercises, port visits and mine clearance operations in order to contribute to NATO collective defence and regional security.

SNMCMG1’s flagship, the Belgian Navy BNS Godetia, led the Belgian Navy minehunter BNS Lobelia, German Navy minehunter FGS Bad Rappenau, Latvian Navy minehunter LVA Talivaldis, Estonian Navy minehunter ENS Admiral Cowan, Norwegian Navy minehunter HNOMS Hinnoey, Dutch Navy minehunter HNLMS Schiedam, and the Royal UK Navy minehunter HMS Grimspy into port at the Canary Wharf.
