Russian Navy’s Sub Docks in Sevastopol

Authorities

Russian Navy’s newest submarine Novorossiysk has reached Sevastopol after undertaking a number of combat training missions in the Black Sea.

This is the first time the submarine left its permanent base in Novorossiysk. The submarine will now conduct scheduled maintenance at the main base of the Black Sea Fleet, after a long cruise from the Northern Fleet.

The vessel is scheduled to continue performing training tasks at the sea ranges of the Black Sea Fleet once it wraps up the maintenance phase.

Novorossiysk is the Navy’s newest diesel-electric submarine (SSK) of Project 636.3. The second diesel-electric sub of the same Project, namely Rostov-on-Don, is expected to join the fleet by the end of the year.
