Authorities

Nigerian Navy’s Eastern Naval Command, ENC, has recently expanded its fleet with a new P18N offshore patrol vessel (OPV).

The Navy took delivery of the new vessel, named NNS Centenary (F91), on Friday in Calabar, according to DailyPost Nigeria.

With this vessel the Nigerian Navy will further reinforce its presence in the country’s eastern maritime area, keeping the waters safe from oil thieves and pirates.

NNS Centenary has the capability to carry helicopters and can stay at sea for two weeks. The vessel was commissioned in February 2015, along with three other warships. The newly built NNS CENTENARY is one of the 2 offshore patrol vessels acquired from China, the second being expected later in the year.
