HMAS Huon Deploys for Operation RESOLUTE

Authorities

Australian Navy’s HMAS Huon departed HMAS Waterhen in Sydney recently to head north on a three-month deployment in support of border protection duties as part of Operation RESOLUTE.

Having recently completed a Tactical Data System Upgrade, trials and Mine Warfare Officers’ Course support, the crew are now looking forward to operationally focussed tasking in the warmer waters of northern Australia.

Huon arrives in Darwin to relieve sister ship HMAS Yarra, which has been deployed in support of RESOLUTE for the last few months.

In August, Huon will represent the Australian Defence Force in Timor Leste for Falintil Day.

The deployment marks Huon’s second in support of Operation RESOLUTE for 2015 and a continuing commitment by the Mine Hunter Coastal ships to supporting operations outside their core mine counter-measures role.
