US Navy’s HSC 6 Changes Command in California

US Navy’s “Screamin’ Indians”, of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 6, held a change of command ceremony at Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado, California, July 2.

During the ceremony, Cmdr. Ryan J. Logan relieved Cmdr. Stephen J. Bury as HSC-6’s commanding officer.

While acting as HSC-6’s commanding officer, Bury led more than 230 aviators and maintenance personnel through numerous exercises and detachments including Air Wing Fallon and RIMPAC 2014. Bury’s next assignment is to the OPNAV staff in Washington, D.C.

Logan has served with Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 7; HSC-12; Rotary Wing Weapons School, Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center in Fallon, Nevada; and Carrier Air Wing 9 staff. He has deployed numerous times in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.

HSC-6’s mission is to conduct all-weather rotary wing support operations in open ocean and littoral environments as an integral part of the air wing by flying the MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter. Primary mission areas are command, control and communication, logistics, fleet support operations, mobility, combat search and rescue, anti-surface warfare and support of special operations forces.
