TCG Gediz Takes a Rest in Colombo, Sri Lanka

Turkish naval ship TCG Gediz arrived to the port of Colombo, Sri Lanka, on April 26 for a two-day visit.

TCG Gediz is on her way from Mumbai to port Klang in Malaysia.

The ship was welcomed by the officials from the embassy of the Republic of Turkey and the Sri Lanka Navy in accordance with naval traditions on arrival.

The Commanding Officer of the ship, Lieutenant Colonel Yusuf Kocaman paid a courtesy call on the Commander Western Naval Area, Rear Admiral Dayananda Nanayakkara at the Western Naval Command Headquarters in Colombo. They held cordial discussions on several fields of mutual interest with special focus on the coordinated training matters.

During her short stay in Sri Lanka, a group of officers of the Sri Lanka Navy will be trained in maritime security by the Multinational Maritime Security Center of Excellence Mobit Training Team of the visiting ship followed by a damage control exercise as part of strengthening the relations between the two friendly navies.

During her passage of departure, two Fast Attack Craft of the Sri Lanka Navy are also scheduled to join the visiting ship for a joint exercise.
