USS McCampbell Changes Command

Authorities

The guided-missile destroyer USS McCampbell (DDG 85) received a new commanding officer during a change of command ceremony, Dec. 19.

Cmdr. Edward D. Sundberg relieved Cmdr. Sharif H. Calfee after 18 months of service aboard McCampbell.

After Sweeney presented Calfee with the Meritorious Service Medal presented by Sweeney, the outgoing commanding officer addressed the audience and Sailors. Calfee, who had served as McCambell’s commanding officer since July 2013, said the previous 18 months “have raced by” since he assumed command.

Calfee’s next assignment will be at Commander, Naval Surface Forces U.S. Pacific Fleet.

Prior to assuming command, Sundberg served as McCampbell’s executive officer.

McCampbell, assigned to Destroyer Squadron 15, is forward-deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, supporting security and stability in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region.
