USS Vella Gulf Sails Into the Sunset

The US Navy’s Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Vella Gulf (CG 72) transiting the Mediterranean Sea on May 11th, 2014.

 

The cruiser is on a scheduled deployment supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 6th Fleet area of responsibility.

USS Vella Gulf is capable of conducting sustained combat operations in anti-air, anti-submarine, anti-aurface, and strike warfare environments.

The ship is equipped with the Aegis Combat System, a fully integrated electronic detection, engagement, and fire control system. The Aegis Combat System provides her with the capability to detect, evaluate, and engage enemy with great firepower and accuracy.
