A fire broke out today onboard the Royal Australian Navy’s submarine, HMAS Waller, while sailing near the West Australian coast, according to the Australian Defence Magazine.

The accident passed without causalities due to timely emergency response actions, which were undertaken to extinguish the fire.

The submarine was at sea as part of her return to operations after a refit period.

HMAS Waller is the third of six Collins class submarines operated by the Navy, which was commissioned into the fleet in 1999. She is equipped with six 21-inch (530mm) torpedo tubes.
