Indian Navy’s First Domestically-Built Sub Ready for Sea Trials

The Indian Navy will begin sea trials for its first domestically-built nuclear-powered submarine, INS Arihant, in a few weeks, as reported by the Zee News.   INS Arihant is a 6,000-ton vessel built under the Advanced Technology Vessel (ATV) project at the Ship Building Centre in Visakhapatnam, India.

Iranian Navy Ships Head for Atlantic Ocean

The Iranian Navy deployed two warships for their first-ever navy mission in the Atlantic Ocean, the Arab News reports.   The ships, Sabalan and Khark, carrying about 30 navy academy cadets, will undertake a three-month voyage across the Atlantic.

The US Coast Guard saved twenty-four crewmembers from a sinking cargo ship Rich Forest near Guam on 19 January 2014.   The Coast Guard received report of flooding from the ship, which was carrying logs en route to China.
