CARIS Bathy DataBASE (BDB) training took place recently at the Colombian Navy’s Center for Hydrographic and Oceanographic Studies (Centro de Investigaciones idrográficas y Oceanográficas (CIOH)) based in Cartagena de Indias, Colombia by a software company CARIS.

Bathy DataBASE delivers a robust and scalable solution for the storage and analysis of ever-expanding volumes of sonar and LiDAR data.

The training was important for the renewal of reduction processes and tools at the Colombian Navy.
CARIS expert, Dan Morash, trained the team of hydrographers and cartographers on the characteristics of Bathy DataBASE and best practices. He also performed installation, configuration and testing of the new system on CIOH infrastructure and set up the user roles and standard operating procedures.

CIOH and CARIS also performed a big data transfer as part of a project aimed at setting up a national bathymetry database for Colombia.
