Brazilian Aircraft Carrier Restored to Full Capacity

The Brazilian Navy has hired DCNS to carry out a ship check on the forward catapult of its aircraft carrier São Paulo.   DCNS team of engineers conducted the diagnostics and trials for the Brazilian Navy in November at the naval premises of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

China to Match US Aircraft Carrier Capacity

China has announced that it is constructing a nuclear-powered aircraft carrier, the biggest ever to be indigenously-built, according to qianzahn.com.   With this move, China will match the aircraft carrier capacity of the US Navy. The 110,000-ton super aircraft carrier should be launched by 2020. 

Russian New Submarine Commissioned

The Russian Navy’s newest submarine Alexander Nevsky was commissioned into service today at Sevmash shipyard, Ria Novosti writes.   Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu attended the ceremony, which took place in Severodvinsk, Russia. The Alexander Nevsky is a nuclear ballistic missile submarine of the fourth generation of Borei class. 

Atlas Elektronik to Supply Sonar for Royal Thai Navy’s New Frigate

ATLAS ELEKTRONIK GmbH has been commissioned by the Korean yard Daewoo Shipbuilding & Ma- rine Engineering (DSME) with the supply and integration of a bow sonar (ASO) as well as a low- frequency active towed array sonar (ACTAS) for a new frigate of the Royal Thai Navy.
