Kazakhstan Plans to Buy Two Minesweepers from Russia

Kazakhstan is considering  buying two ships from the Russian Navy, Interfax-Kazakhstan reports.

The ships are project 10750E minesweepers which are designed to provide anti-mine protection of water areas of naval bases and harbours, fairways, and littoral areas of the exclusive economic zone.

Kazakhstan is planning to use the ships in the Caspian Sea.

Deputy Director General of military-technical cooperation of Sredne-Nevskiy shipyard, Aleksander Vlassov said at the 6th International Naval Salon in Saint-Petersburg that their plant has signed a contract with Kazakhstan for the supply of 10750E harbor minesweepers.

The Kazakh Naval Force is manned by 3,000 personnel and is equipped with 14 inshore patrol craft.
