Lockheed Martin Lands SEWIP Block 2 System Deal

Lockheed Martin Corp., based in Liverpool, N.Y., has won a $39 million worth modification to previously awarded contract to exercise a firm-fixed-price option for the Surface Electronic Warfare Improvement Program (SEWIP) Block 2 System low-rate initial production units.

SEWIP is an evolutionary acquisition program to upgrade the existing AN/SLQ-32(V) Electronic Warfare System. The SEWIP Block 2 will greatly improve the receiver/antenna group necessary to keep capabilities current with the pace of the threat and to yield improved system integration.

The AN/SLQ-32 Electronic Warfare (EW) system, introduced in the late 1970’s, performs the mission of early detection, signal analysis, threat warning and protection from anti-ship missiles. The current SLQ-32 is deployed in 6 variants on surface ships in the fleet with the exception of LCS as well as U.S. Coast Guard cutters.

Work will be performed in Syracuse, N.Y. (68 percent), and in Lansdale, Pa. (32 percent), and is expected to be completed by September 2014. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, D.C., is the contracting activity.
