USA: CACI Lands SLBM Contract

CACI International Inc announced today that it has been awarded a $23 million task order contract with the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Dahlgren Division in Dahlgren, Virginia to provide technical and engineering services to the Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM) program.

This contract, which is for one base year and two option years, was awarded under the SeaPort-e contract vehicle that CACI received in 2004. Leveraging its expertise in program management and SETA support as well as engineering and logistics, CACI will provide software testing and full lifecycle support for TRIDENT submarine fire control systems.

NSWC Dahlgren, a premier research and development center, serves as a specialty site for weapon system integration. It supports the TRIDENT fire control systems through its Strategic and Weapons Control Systems (K) Department, whose mission is to ensure the systems are ready to accurately target and support a strategic launch of an SLBM. CACI’s lifecycle support services will ensure the Navy-developed fire control software is delivered error free, on time, and ready to support both the ballistic and cruise missile programs.

Factors that enabled CACI to win this contract include the company’s proven software expertise, more than 20 years of SLBM experience, and veteran SLBM personnel. CACI’s full-lifecycle software support encompasses verification and validation checking, developer testing, configuration management, logistics support, and development of reference documentation. CACI will also continue to provide support to the Ship Submersible Guided Nuclear (SSGN) program, a ballistic missile submarine retrofitted to carry Tomahawk cruise missiles. Also on this contract, CACI will perform information assurance services for the K Department as well as information technology support for NSWC Dahlgren’s Corporate Department.
