Nigerian Navy Ship Thunder (NNS Thunder) has reached the Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, on her way to Nigeria.

A Nigerian Navy delegation led by the Chief of Training and Operations, Rear Admiral Johnson Olutoyin, is in Trinidad and Tobago to receive the ship.

An outstanding ceremony was organized on November 21, 2011, at Alameda, California to mark the beginning of her homeward trip to Nigeria.

The ship was received at Manzanilo in Mexico by the Nigerian community between November 29 and December 1. Prior to her departure to Dakar, Senegal, on December 15, NNS Thunder will stay for three days at Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago. She is expected to arrive to Nigeria at the beginning of January 2012, when the Navy will organize a suitable reception.

The new warship acquired recently by the Nigerian Navy from the United States of America Coast Guard, has air surface and sub-surface capabilities and displaces approximately 3,250 tons through a maximum speed of 29 knots.
