Sri Lanka Navy Attends All-Night Pirith Chanting Ceremony

An all-night pirith chanting ceremony followed by a mid-day alms giving was held at SLNS Gemunu in Welisara on the 02nd and 03rd December 2011 in view of the 61st Navy Day. Commander of the Navy, senior Naval officers, a large number of naval personnel and their family members attended the event.

The ceremony commenced with the monks being ushered into the venue in a colourful procession. Religious blessings were invoked on the heroic naval personnel who were killed in action while safeguarding the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the country. The family members of the KIA naval personnel were also invited to participate in the religious ceremonies.
