UK-based Chess Dynamics has secured a contract with Indonesian state-owned defense company PT Len to supply SeaEagle fire control electro-optical (FCEO) systems for two Indonesian Navy Bung Tomo-class multi-role light frigates.

The contract, worth approximately £3 million, covers the second and third vessels in the class and follows an initial order placed in 2023 for the first frigate. The latest award will complete the planned installation of SeaEagle FCEO systems across all three Bung Tomo-class vessels.

The systems will replace the ships' legacy electro-optical fire control equipment and integrate with their existing 76 mm OTO Melara naval guns and upgraded Thales TACTICOS Combat Management System.

The Bung Tomo-class frigates entered service in the early 2000s and are undergoing refurbishment intended to extend their operational service lives and maintain their combat capabilities.

Chess Dynamics has previously supplied SeaEagle FCEO systems for Indonesian Navy KCR-60 vessels as part of combat systems delivered and integrated by Terma.

The company has also supported naval programs in Southeast Asia, including projects in Thailand and Malaysia, for more than 15 years. In Australia, it works with Owen International to support maintenance, repair and upgrades of the SeaEagle system family.
