US hits Iran’s major naval boatyard in Bushehr, images show extent of damage

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has released imagery showing significant damage to the Shahid Mahallati Naval Boatyard in Bushehr following US strikes, describing the facility as a major hub for the construction and maintenance of small vessels used by Iran’s naval forces.

According to CENTCOM, the Shahid Mahallati Naval Boatyard played a central role in supporting the maritime capabilities of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy (IRGCN). The facility was responsible for manufacturing and repairing fast attack craft and other small boats, which form a component of Iran’s asymmetric naval strategy in the Persian Gulf.

The reported strike is a part of a broader US military action against Iran, Operation Epic Fury, which started on February 28. The operation, led by CENTCOM, was described by US officials as an effort to dismantle Iran’s military capabilities, including missile systems, air defenses, and naval assets deemed a threat to regional stability.

Now, a temporary two-week ceasefire was declared following weeks of escalation, after US President Donald Trump announced the suspension of further strikes contingent on Iran agreeing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.

The conflict has involved sustained air and missile strikes as well as retaliatory actions across the region.

Bushehr itself is a strategic port city on the Persian Gulf, hosting both civilian and military infrastructure. The presence of specialized boatyards such as Shahid Mahallati highlights Iran’s emphasis on distributed, resilient maritime capabilities designed to operate in confined waters.
