Norwegian equipment supplier Vestdavit has received a contract to provide davit systems for the anti-submarine warfare frigate (ASWF) program.
The frigates are a part of the projects of the Dutch and Belgian Navy to replace the existing multipurpose- or M-frigates. This collaborative naval program will see the construction of four next-generation frigates, two for each nation, designed to enhance anti-submarine warfare capabilities in the region.
The Netherlands is leading the project, with Damen Naval serving as the main shipbuilder. The first vessel is scheduled to be delivered in 2028.
Each vessel in the program will be outfitted with advanced dual davit systems and accompanying equipment on both sides of the ship.
According to Vestdavit, these systems are engineered with high-grade materials and designed to perform in demanding environments. They have features to support safe and efficient handling in dynamic conditions. Built to accommodate a range of vessel and mission requirements, they also incorporate automation technology to enhance overall performance and reliability.
“This contract is a major win for Vestdavit, not only in terms of size, numbers but also technological advancement,” said Vestdavit’s Chief Executive Officer Rolf Andreas Wigand .

Last month, the company secured an order to deliver multiple davits and painter booms for a series of French Navy’s offshore patrol vessels (OPVs).
