Italian shipbuilding heavyweight Fincantieri and Malaysian maritime solutions provider Enra Energy Solutions (EES) have signed a technical collaboration agreement to support the Royal Malaysian Navy’s “15 to 5” strategic fleet renewal program.
As disclosed, the agreement was signed on the occasion of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) in Malaysia. The partners will focus on enhancing Malaysia’s naval capabilities while fostering significant national industrial participation.
Specifically, Fincantieri and EES plan to work on delivering next-generation naval vessels, such as multi-role support ships (MRSSs) and littoral mission ships Batch 3, to improve their operational readiness and resilience.
EES has a track record in maintenance, repair, and logistical support services. The Italian company hopes that through this collaboration, EES will ‘play a vital role’ in strengthening the local ecosystem of maritime defense solutions.

Last month, construction started on the Malaysian Navy’s three new corvettes, with a traditional keel-laying ceremony at Turkish shipyard STM Savunma Teknolojileri Mühendislik ve Ticaret A.Ş. (STM).
