As disclosed, the shipbuilding agreement includes 9 coastal patrol boats and 5 interceptors, with options for more units of each type.

The contract was awarded to Boomeranger following a competitive public tendering process.

The boats are based on existing Boomeranger designs. However, the initial phase of the project involves customizing the boats through a design review process in close collaboration with the Swedish Coast Guard’s technical team.

The patrol boats will be 13.5 meters long, while the interceptors will boast a length of 11.5 meters.

The boats will be utilized for patrolling and control operations such as customs, border, fishery and restricted area control; maritime traffic supervision; and search and rescue missions. They will have the ability to be used within the framework of Frontex missions in, for example, the Mediterranean. The units are slated for delivery 2027–2029.

Meanwhile, the interceptor will be used for intercepting and boarding, beaching, picking up from the sea and working as a diving platform. They are intended for year-round use within the fjord under ice-free conditions. The deliveries are scheduled for 2026–2027.

“We are excited to work with Boomeranger Boats on this project. Their expertise and dedication to customization and safety will ensure our new vessels meet the specific operational requirements of the Swedish Coast Guard. The robustness of the platforms strengthens Swedish Coast Guard’s ability to operate in maritime surveillance missions and increase our operational capabilities,” said Christian Wentzel, Technical Director of the Swedish Coast Guard.

“We are fully dedicated to meeting the high standards of the Swedish Coast Guard, ensuring their operational requirements are met with precision and excellence. This contract is a testament to Boomeranger Boats’ commitment to quality and innovation in maritime solutions,” added Jani Leskinen, CEO of Boomeranger Boats.
