As informed, the production started yesterday (February 18, 2025) with the traditional steel-cutting ceremony.

Under an agreement valued at approximately NIS 2.4 billion (around $780 million), Israel Shipyards will provide the Israeli Navy with five Reshef-class multi-mission vessels. The ships are being developed collaboratively with the Israeli Navy.

According to the shipyard, these vessels will incorporate innovative weapon systems and technologies from Israel’s defense industry.

Israel Shipyards CEO Eitan Zucker stated that the first Reshef vessel is expected to be delivered to the Israeli Navy in approximately three and a half years.

The new class of ships is scheduled to replace the veteran Nirit Sa’ar 4.5-class ships after four decades of service.

The vessels are expected to assist in supporting Israel’s economic zone (EEZ) as well as the offshore oil and gas facilities within the country’s territorial waters.
