Conceptual design of Lithuania’s next-gen patrol vessel unveiled

Lithuanian company Western Baltic Engineering, in collaboration with Danish design services provider OSK Design, has developed the conceptual design for Lithuania’s next-generation patrol vessel.

As informed, the innovative project, named Perkūnas (Thunder), features “state-of-the-art technologies” for critical infrastructure protection and specialized operations.

The vessel will feature a substantial length of 88 meters, providing ample space for its operations. With a beam of 17 meters and a draft of 4.5 meters, the ship will be able to navigate through various water conditions.

Capable of reaching speeds in excess of 18 knots, the vessel will have a crew capacity ranging from 30 to 60 members, making it adaptable to different mission requirements. It will be powered by a 6 MW engine.

The realization of this project will bring substantial benefits to Lithuania, including:

  • strengthened national security through advanced patrol capabilities, bolstering defense operations;
  • boost the local industry with increased economic activity and growth;
  • enhanced Lithuanian Navy operations through locally developed vessels, promoting greater efficiency and independence.
