Rohde & Schwarz to provide communications systems for Dutch and Belgian ASW frigates

Rohde & Schwarz has been awarded a contract to supply its integrated communications system (ICS) for the anti-submarine warfare (ASW) frigates of the Royal Netherlands Navy (RNLN) and Belgian Navy.

Under the contract, signed with the Dutch Materiel and IT Command (COMMIT) of the Dutch Ministry of Defence (MoD), Rohde & Schwarz will deliver its NAVICS solution, which is designed to provide external and internal communications across multiple security domains.

The system will feature modern cyber security capabilities to ensure the secure exchange of sensitive information.

“Our Multi Level Secure NAVICS Solution was chosen as the best basis to fulfill the stringent security requirements. On top of we incorporated numerous customer-specific requirements into the design, such as the modification of voice terminals and the integration of our communications control systems into the customer’s integrated mission management system (IMMS),” said Bart Walraven, Managing Director Rohde & Schwarz Benelux.

To remind, the company has recently been commissioned to supply and integrate systems for communications and radar electronic support measures (C-ESM/R-ESM) for the German Navy’s F124 Sachsen-class frigates.
