Qatar places order for two fast attack craft at Dearsan Shipyard

Qatari Emiri Navy and Dearsan Shipyard have signed an agreement within the scope of the design and build project of 2 units of 50-meter fast attack craft.

According to Daersan Shipyard’s social media post, the contract was signed on March 5, during the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition (DIMDEX).

The ceremony was attended by the Commander of Qatari Emiri Navy Maj. Gen. Abdullah bin Hassan Al SULAİTİ, President of Defence Industry Agency Haluk GÖRGÜN along with Dearsan Chairman Aziz YILDIRIM.
According to the shipbuilder, the vessels will be capable of undertaking effective missions in the scope of asymmetric warfare, patrol, and protection of territorial waters.

Furthermore, it will also include missions such as anti piracy, reconnaissance and surveillance, search and rescue, disaster relief operations, border control and base/port security.

The fast attack craft will be equipped with weapon systems for surface, air defence and asymmetric warfare.

Turkish shipbuilding company Daersan Shipyard is currently building two offshore patrol vessels (OPVs) for Nigerian Navy. The keel laying ceremonies for two high-endurance offshore patrol vessels were held in 2022.
