Shipbuilding company Israel Shipyards has signed a contract with an undisclosed African country to supply two new landing ships.
As informed, the deal includes two firm vessels which are to be built in the next two years. The agreement also includes an option for the third vessel, the company pointed out.
The firm did not reveal other details of the contract, including which type of vessel it will build.
“We identify an evolving market segment for this vessel type that enables operational activity and logistical support to combat forces. With this strategic move, we are expanding the portfolio of products and services we offer to our customers worldwide. This will provide opportunities for us with new customers and markets,” Eitan Zucker , Israel Shipyards’ CEO said.
Last August, Israel Shipyards signed a contract for a detailed design phase for the construction of the Reshef-class vessel. The agreement was signed with Israel’s Ministry of Defence as a final step before the ship’s production phase.
