HII scores $303M ship support deal for US Navy

US largest military company Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII) has won a $273 million contract to support the US Navy’s maintenance programs.

Under the five-year deal, HII’s Technical Solutions division will support the U.S. Navy’s carrier engineering maintenance assist team, surface engineering maintenance assist team for west coast surface ships, and other maintenance and material readiness programs.

The programs follow a “find, fix and train” philosophy with assessments, maintenance, and training to enhance sailor self-sufficiency and maintenance capabilities while ensuring platforms remain mission capable.

Work will be performed within the U.S. and internationally during operational deployments.

Furthermore, HII’s employees will support maintenance and repair work for ships’ hulls, as well as mechanical and electrical systems.

They will also support sailors working on aviation equipment and systems; command, control, communications, computer and intelligence systems; and combat support systems.

“Continuous modernization and sustainment of our nation’s fleet is essential to our national security,” said Garry Schwartz , president of Technical Solutions’ Defense and Federal Solutions business group.

Recently, the company also secured a $302.6 million contract to provide planning yard support for US Navy ships.
