IT firm Stefanini secures work on Brazil’s first nuclear-powered submarine

IT provider Stefanini has been contracted for work on the Brazilian Navy’s first nuclear-powered submarine, the future SN-Álvaro Alberto.

Brazil is developing the sub in cooperation with France’s Naval Group, who will deliver four months of training to a group of IHM Stefanini engineers in Ruelle-sur-Touvre, France.

The project includes designing the Integrated Program Management System (IPMS), supplying the PLC and remote panels, configurating the PLCs and industrial networks, configuring the supervisory for the control interface and designing the cybersecurity networks and systems.

Construction of the SN-Álvaro Alberto is part of Brazil’s PROSUB submarine development program, which will see the country develop and domestically build four diesel-electric submarines and one nuclear-powered unit.
