The undefinitized contract action is a modification to a previously awarded contract, as announced by the US defense department.

A dry-docking planned incremental availability (PIA) includes the planning and execution of depot-level maintenance, alterations, and modifications that will update and improve the ship’s military and technical capabilities. The PIA is an overhaul that usually takes between four and seven months to complete.

Work will be performed in Portsmouth, Virginia, and is expected to be completed by February 2021.

USS George H.W. Bush is the final Nimitz-class aircraft carrier and has been in US Navy service since January 2009.
