The launching ceremony was held at Dajin Heavy Industry shipyard on December 11, 2018.

The 3,000-ton newbuilding was launched into Yangtze River.

As explained, this is the largest survey vessel to be built for the Pakistan Navy under Sino-Pak collaboration.

“The new ship will be one of the most technologically advanced survey vessels of the Pakistan Navy and will strengthen Pakistan’s marine scientific research capability while providing flexibility to carry out underwater search and localization operations,” the navy’s public relations department said in a statement.

The Pakistan Navy is said to have a strong tradition in hydrography and the newly launched ship with its extended endurance and advance survey equipment is expected to enhance the country’s oceanographic survey capability.

Following the harbor and sea acceptance trials, the 81-meter-long ship is planned to join the navy in August 2019.
