One sailor is missing and two are in critical condition following the crash of a Mexican Navy MI-17 helicopter off the coast of Baja California on October 20.

The helicopter was filmed crashing into the sea after the pilot lost control during regular patrol activities.

According to the Mexican Navy, the helicopter was carrying 12 crew at the time of the incident. The service said local fishermen played a critical role in recovering the crew, nine of whim escaped with minor or no injuries.

It is not known what caused the helicopter to crash into the sea and the navy said the cause of the incident was under investigation.
