US Navy orders four new-design tugboats from Dakota Creek Industries

The US Naval Sea Systems Command has ordered four yard tug 808-class harbor tugboats from Washington-based Dakota Creek Industries Inc.

The company will be responsible for both the detail design and construction of the tugboats under a contract worth $52.9 million.

The contract also includes options for the US Navy to order two additional craft which, if exercised, would bring the cumulative value of this contract to $84.4m.

Work will be performed in Anacortes, Washington, and is expected to be completed by October 2020.
