Canada’s GeoSpectrum Technologies Inc (GTI), an Elbit Systems subsidiary, has received a contract to deliver an underwater sound source system (USSS) and software package to the Republic of Korea Navy.
The contract was awarded GTI by the South Korean marine propulsion systems cmpany STX Engine Co.
The USSS consists of an acoustic projector body, winch, handling package and power amplifier and will be used to test sonar systems for the ROK Navy’s Harbor Underwater Surveillance System.
As explained by GTI, the system has the capability to generate flexible, designated echo return and/or noise source characteristics similar to real-world targets and payloads. This provides robust, diversified acoustic noise generation to support acoustic systems and trials.
The systems, which also include a software package, will be supplied by the end of 2018, according to Elbit Systems.
